High Prairie designed and built a complete outdoor living environment centered around a stainless steel plunge pool. The project included deck construction, pool installation, outdoor kitchen integration, custom hardwood detailing, fire feature installation, and landscape lighting to extend the use of the space into the evening.
The design balanced water, entertaining, and relaxation while maximizing the usable space in the backyard.
Creating a Backyard for Family Time
A Leawood surgeon wanted a space where she and her two sons could spend more time together outdoors. Like many families, busy schedules and technology often kept everyone inside. She envisioned a backyard that would encourage gathering, conversation, and shared experiences.
High Prairie designed a modern outdoor retreat that gives the family a place to relax, host friends, and enjoy time outside together.
At the center of the design is a stainless steel plunge pool, one of the first installations of its kind in the Kansas City area. The compact footprint allowed more room for entertaining while still providing a place to cool off and unwind.

A Modern Take on the Backyard Pool
Instead of installing a traditional full-size swimming pool, the project focused on a plunge pool that complements the overall outdoor living space.
The stainless steel structure gives the pool a clean, contemporary appearance while providing long-term durability. Its smaller size fits naturally within the deck and patio design while still creating a strong visual focal point.
Surrounding materials such as porcelain surfaces, natural stone, and IPE hardwood detailing bring warmth and texture to the modern design.
