This creates a wide, diverse array of garden and landscaping styles that range from old-world European to new, modern, and contemporary. Loch Lloyd is a private community just south of Kansas City, with a naturalized resort feel. The community has many different settings, from large homes on the water’s edge to large estates tucked back in the wooded rolling hills.
Code Compliance Is Essential
Starting an outdoor living space project in Loch Lloyd can be very exciting, but there are a lot of things that need to be considered first, and neglecting them can mean the doom of your project. One of the most significant, as well as one of the most frequently overlooked aspects of starting a big project, is looking into local regulations and permit requirements. While many projects won’t need permits, most will, and that can be quite a process itself.
Consider Project Scope
The biggest factor in determining if your project will need a permit is going to be the actual scope of the project. All larger projects, like roofing jobs, construction, hardscaping, major landscaping alterations, and even pergolas if they attach to the structure of the house, will require a permit. The bigger the project, the more regulatory requirements will often be in place, including limits on the percentage of land used for hardscaping, since that can cause water permeability issues and potential flooding.
Check With Your HOA
Since Loch Lloyd is such an exclusive and private community, you will need to make sure that your projects comply with all HOA requirements. Failing to adhere to an HOA regulation or covenant could mean extensive fines for each day the project is in violation, and even expensive legal battles to keep your project going.
Working With Experienced Professionals Can Make All The Difference
The single biggest thing you can do to ensure the eventual success and professional completion of your project is to partner with a trusted local contractor. High Prairie Outdoors is intimately familiar with all local regulations and requirements, so your project can be completed without a hiccup. Additionally, we have in-house engineering and architectural capabilities as well, so any projects that require such can be completed entirely in-house.
