Driveways
We do not recommend pavers on an aggregate or gravel base because they do not last with vehicle traffic. Likewise, natural stone isn't engineered to handle vehicle traffic and doesn't tolerate salt very well. We don't include these options in the pricing guide.
- Gravel Driveway: $0.70-2 per square foot
- Concrete Driveway: $16-18 per square foot
- Decorative Concrete Driveway: $18-22 per square foot
- Paver Driveway on Concrete: $45-65 per square foot
Patios and Walkways
To stay on the lower end of the price-per-square-foot for patios, you can keep the design simple, use one color, choose more affordable pavers for the body of the patio and leave the higher-end pavers for the border, or allow for larger joints on stone patios.
- Concrete Patio: $17-20 per square foot
- Colored or Stamped Concrete Patio: $20-35 per square foot
- Paver Patio on Aggregate: $40-50 per square foot
- Premium Paver Patio: $50-60 per square foot
- Natural Stone Patio: $55-65 per square foot
Retaining Walls
Walls that are terraced or more than 3' tall require reverse engineering with a geo-textile product that reinforces the wall to prevent future failure. This additional investment can be $2-5 more per square foot.
- Split-Face Block Retaining Wall: $140-175 per square foot
- Premium Block Retaining Wall: $165-200 per square foot
- Retaining Wall with Veneer: $240-275 per square foot

- Poured Concrete Retaining Wall: $30-40 per square foot
- Stone Veneer on Existing Surface: $20-35 per square foot

Choose from wood-burning and gas options, keeping in mind that installing the plumbing for certain gas features could require an additional $2,000-7,000.
