One of the biggest factors in having attractive and well-maintained landscaping is having good irrigation; while many homeowners want to upgrade to smart technology, many have questions about the overall smart irrigation system. If you have concerns about how your potential smart system will be installed, and what might be involved in the process, we have the information you need to know.

We’re going to dive into how smart irrigation systems go from the landscaper to the landscaping. We’ll take a look at the entire process, what each step of the process will be, and what you can expect from working with us. Here’s everything you need to know about the installation process for smart irrigation systems.

What Is The Smart Irrigation Systems Installation Process?

    Initial Consultation & Site Analysis

When you contact us, we’ll set up an initial consultation. During this consultation, your representative will perform a full site analysis, which will consist of three parts: a water pressure assessment, a horticultural assessment, and a systems requirement check.

    Water Pressure Assessment

During this assessment, we will perform a full evaluation of your water pressure. This is to create maximized designs and zones, which will help make your system more effective over time. It also ensures that we don’t plan to have water pressure in zones where it won’t be available.

By assessing your water pressure, your system can be optimized to the ideal number of zones, heads, and runs of irrigation lines.

    Horticultural Assessment

While very few irrigation companies formally check horticultural needs, this is one of the most crucial stages of the consultation, and it’s where we perform a full assessment of your existing plant life. We take all landscaping and turf into account during this assessment. This is used to determine the ideal setup and zoning plan that will deliver maximum results. Ideally, this assessment will result in the elimination of both wet spots and dry spots in your irrigation plan and will allow each plant zone to get the irrigation that it needs.

Irrigation exists to keep your landscape and lawn alive and healthy. As such, why wouldn’t a company perform a horticultural assessment?

    Systems Requirement Check

The systems requirements check allows us to finalize the details that will best prepare us and our team for your smart irrigation system installation. This is a chance for our team to gather any additional information that they may need for the successful installation.

    Proposal & Design Phase

In this phase, your technician will take all of the information and measurements that they gathered back to the office, and will create a detailed irrigation plan that is unique to your property and your plant profile. Once that is complete, they will present the plan to you for approval, after which the installation can begin.

    Installation Phase

Our installation crew will be out in 1-3 days after the plan is approved and the project starts. Depending on the complexity of the system, installation may be able to be completed in just a few days, or it may take a week or more. Your technician will be able to give you more details on the project length before you accept the plan.

    Monitoring Phase

This is an ongoing stage that consists of adjustments in alignment with climate and weather patterns, which keeps your system operating in an optimal manner. This can be done by us, the client, or by another professional. It’s important to note that our Kansas City weather patterns require ongoing updating and checking of programming and coverage. Failure to adapt and adjustcould render your irrigation system less functional, risking plant health.
