It can be daunting to start an extensive outdoor living project in your backyard, particularly if that project involves the swimming pool design process. Pools are the ultimate yard enhancer, but that enhancement often requires considerable financial investment, and extensive planning and design. We’re going to take a look at what the swimming pool design process is going to look like when you work with High Prairie Outdoors.
Step 1: Discovery
During this stage in the process, you’ll meet with members of the High Prairie Outdoors team in our design studio. We’re going to learn as much as we can about your project vision, your budget, and other objectives that are important to you. If your project feels like a good fit for both parties, we’ll be in a good position to move on to the next step.
Step 2: Site Analysis & Concept Design Creation
To begin creating a concept presentation and preliminary budget categories we’ll need to perform a full site analysis and concept design creation. This is where we will have our professionals come out to your home to conduct a comprehensive site analysis that will form the foundation of our estimate. The analysis will look at the site drainage and perform a full assessment of the grade drainage capabilities.
There will also be additional style and component consultation at this stage, getting more refined ideas of what you want in your project in terms of style and scale. Our team will also make a full survey of anything else that may factor into the project itself. This can include obstacles in the yard, property easements or setback requirements, and more.
Step 3: Concept Presentation
This is where you meet with our design professionals to see the presentation of your project. This will include 2D drawings and 3D renderings of the finished project. This is also the stage where you will be able to make more educated decisions about the overall direction of the project. This stage may take a while depending on the number of changes or alterations to the project but should reflect the vision you outlined in our initial meetings.
Step 4a: Concept Budget Estimates
During this stage, we’ll meet with you or schedule a remote meeting, to discuss the pre-engineering proposal. Final details like material allowances and selections are factored into the budgetary categories. Once these final details are figured out and included in the pool proposal.
Step 4b: Architectural & Engineering Stage
Many cities require architectural renderings and engineer drawings of your future pool, and if this is the case with your location, this stage is where we’ll need to arrange for our architectural and engineering team to create and stamp those plans. This will have an additional cost that is separate from your project cost and is dependent on the size, style, and complexity of the pool project. The cost can be anywhere from $500 up to $10,000 for large, resort-style pools and entertainment areas.
Step 5: Formalized Estimate
This is where you’ll receive your formal estimate, and architectural and engineering plans. Now that you have those, you are ready to find a construction company to undertake the project, but there’s usually no need to worry about that when we’re familiar with the project and ready to finish it for you.
